Meet Glen Geelhaar

I was born in Baltimore, and attended Parkville Elementary, Middle, and High School. I’m a graduate of Villa Julie/Stevenson University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communications.

Parkville has always been a community where you feel safe walking the dog. Many families here are living in the same house as their grandparents. However, Parkville is a community at risk that is in need of private/public investment in order to grow and prevent decline.

The ever increasing burden of over-taxation and over-regulation policies threaten the Baltimore County community that I love. I encourage community leaders like myself who believe that our nation and state is on the wrong path, to get up off the sidelines and run for office.

Issues

Trade Schools

Our Students need a trade school.

There is a shortage of Qualified Applicants in the trades which includes Electricians, HVAC, Plumbing, and Bricklaying.

The Golden Ring Middle School Building received a Renovation over $4 million in 2006 according to Board Docs, an additional Central Air Project in 2017, and is planned to close!

Please watch my testimony from Nov. 5, 2019 below.

Taxes

Over-taxation leads to tax avoidance and suffocates growth. We need to end wasteful spending in Annapolis.

As an example, instead of buying cigarettes from retailers, tax increases like this drive cigarette buyers to the black market hurting small businesses and increasing crime.

Sanctuary Cities

We must end sanctuary cities in the state of Maryland. Policies that protect criminals who have committed violent acts and shield them from federal immigration officials puts all residents especially those in immigrant communities at risk.

Term Limits

I support term limits for legislators and executives that follow the Florida model where there is no lifetime limit on the number of times a Governor or legislator can be elected, but after the consecutive term limit is reached, the Governor or legislator must be out of that office for at least one election cycle before being eligible for re-election. This approach will encourage more candidates to serve with new ideas, while preserving the voters with the option to re-elect a public servant who they truly love and admire in the future. Let the Voters decide.

Pro-Life

I am a Pro-Life candidate for the Maryland State House of Delegates.

Life begins at conception, and should not end until natural death.

As your Representative, I will support legislation that protects the life of the unborn, and fight against the creation of the new industry of death, physician assisted suicide. I pray that one day the millions of lives lost each year to the tragedy of abortion will come to an end.

2nd Amendment

When elected, I will uphold my oath to defend the Constitution and stand up to the gun grabbers in Annapolis. This is a very dangerous time where politicians are pushing to defund the police. Our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms urgently needs to be protected in order to keep our families safe.

Residency Requirements

Our public school systems, including Baltimore County Public Schools, must be held accountable to enforce the residency requirements of students. Our classrooms are overcrowded and residency enforcement ensures that the resources intended for our public school system actually go to the students who live within the school system boundaries.

Elected vs. Appointed Leadership

Let the People decide. An Elected School Superintendent from a pool of qualified candidates would estore trust and renew confidence in the future of our Baltimore County Public Schools. Thanks to Delegate Joe Boteler for this creative solution.
